August Update

With all the fun of the Olympics and last few weeks of summer we haven't had as much time to post. We've been having too much fun! Here is an update for the last few weeks.

As luck would have it, I was living in Idaho during the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and I wasn't able to attend any of the events. Neither Johnny or I have been to the Olympic Park in Park City so we decided to make a day trip of it. We loved Main Street Pizza and the fantastic art galleries. Lily barked at every picture of a wolf, dog or fox - she must have enjoyed it, too.

A highlight of the day was riding the zipline! You can kind of see it in the background. Neither of our pictures from actually riding it turned out to well, but we had a blast!

And as for Lily's latest - she is a walking/talking/running/climbing one-year-old going on ten. Her latest passion is shoes. She might even do better in my high heels than me. She even manages to get them on the right feet!

She has also discovered the classic baby hideaway in the entertainment center cupboard. Notice the cupboard is completely empty of toys - I can't say as much for my living room floor!

Conner's Mission Call!

My brother Conner was in Florida when his mission call came. We were out to dinner with Cami and Broc the night that they all flew in so we decided to see if he would open it that night. Really, who can wait? So Lily met him at the door with the call in her hands. Lucky for us, Conner opened it and he received his call to:
Santa Rosa, California!

We are very excited for him. He goes into the MTC on September 24th and his farewell is September 14th - coming up fast.

Lily also has been perfecting her climbing skills. I got a call on my cell phone when I was unloading the dishes. By the time I had hung up, I turned around to find this:

Just Between Friends Sale

Sadly, I am a walking advertisement for consignment sales I guess. They took this picture of my stash at the Just Between Friends Consignment Sale yesterday and posted it on KSL. I volunteered at it and sold a small number of things myself to subsidize what I was going to buy myself. I absolutely love these sales! As you can see, I found quite a lot! They take place twice a year and since I volunteer , I get first pick, with a few other volunteers, of everything there. Here are my steals:
Lily's entire fall/winter 2008,
spring/summer 2009,
and some of her fall/winter 2009 wardrobe.
(all practically new from Gymboree, Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Carter's, and Sprockets. And I am very picky!)
2 Wendy Bellisimo Storage Baskets Brand New
2 Pairs of Winter Boots/Shoes for Lily
Eddie Bauer Monkey Back Pack Leash
Knitted Hat
Matching Hat and Mittens
Several Boxes of Wet Wipes
Gap Maternity Jeans (Brand new for $4)
A maternity dress shirt
Brand new tub toys for Lily
Maybe a few other little things
For only $140.

I was thrilled! I bought about 20 complete outfits for Lily.

I love a good deal! And the best part is, I will get some of that money of the money I spent back if any of my own things sold!

My sister was able to get tons of clothes for her baby due in October, too. Her favorite deals were the brand new Bumbo for $15 and the excellent condition Boppy for $6. You can't beat that!

All she needs is the wind in her hair ....

Lily has always loved the vacumn. Whenever she hears it start, she comes running! She likes to stand right in front of it and feel the wind. It makes vacumning a little difficult, but it is fun to watch. Lily is also quite good at helping me around the house. As you have seen in previous posts, she loves to clean the toilet with the scrub brush. Her newest trick is she is great at shutting the dishwasher for me. Prior to this week, she was climbing into it, so this is a big step for us!
